Suspended in Place is set in the post-industrial landscape of an abandoned Tasmanian mining town. The video consists of interrelated micro–performances from people who are connected to the town in different ways: a one-man procession through the town, kids on dirt bikes navigating abandoned and empty streets, a solo drum performance in the town garage and a man calling raffle tickets to empty pub complete with disco lights still flashing. These performances, which are both orchestrated and observed, illustrate the ways people mark their presence in, or negotiate through, an environment which is caught in a state of suspension.
